What a $30/hr job pays per year

Take a role advertised at $30/hour for a standard 40-hour week. Multiply the rate by weekly hours, then by the 52 weeks in a year: 30 × 40 × 52 = $62,400 gross per year. How do I convert hourly to annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work per week, then multiply by 52. For example, $25/hour × 40 hours/week × 52 weeks = $52,000 per year. Use the "Hourly → Salary" tab above to get all pay periods at once.

How do I calculate my take-home pay?

Take-home pay is your gross salary minus taxes and deductions. Use the "Take-Home" tab and enter your gross annual salary along with your effective total tax rate. Your actual net pay will depend on your filing status, state, benefits deductions, and other factors — this calculator gives a reliable estimate.

What is biweekly pay?

Biweekly pay means you receive a paycheck every two weeks — 26 paychecks per year. It is one of the most common pay schedules in the United States. To find your biweekly gross pay, divide your annual salary by 26. A $52,000 salary, for instance, works out to $2,000 biweekly.

How many working hours in a year?

A standard full-time employee working 40 hours per week works 2,080 hours per year (40 × 52). Accounting for approximately 10 federal holidays brings that closer to 2,000 hours. Enter your actual hours per week in the calculator for a precise result.

Why your real paycheck will differ

The gross conversions are exact arithmetic, but the take-home estimate is deliberately simple: it applies one flat percentage to your whole salary. Real payroll does not work that way. Income tax is charged in brackets, so your effective rate is lower than your top bracket; Social Security stops at an annual wage cap while Medicare does not; and the tool ignores pre-tax 401(k) and health-insurance deductions, which shrink your taxable pay, as well as state and local taxes, which vary enormously by where you live. It also assumes 52 paid weeks and a steady rate — overtime, unpaid leave, bonuses, and commission all move the real figure. Use it to compare offers, not to predict the exact number on your stub.

Take-home figures are rough estimates built on a single flat tax rate you enter — they do not model progressive tax brackets, the Social Security wage cap, pre-tax retirement or benefit deductions, or differing state and local rules, so they will not match your actual paycheck.
